Community seed swaps sound friendly, but they sit in a legal grey area in many places. Even where home growing is permitted, handing seeds to someone else can count as distribution, which is treated very differently by the law. Buying your own packs from a shop like https://budweedseeds.com avoids that question and also tells you exactly what genetics you are getting. Swapped seeds often arrive in unlabelled paper bags, so their origin is basically guesswork anyway.
